Our verdict
Owner fits a restaurant that wants its website, app, loyalty and marketing run for it, month to month. With steady online sales, Flat Rate ($499, no restaurant fee) usually costs less than Flexible ($249 plus 5%). Our 12-month cost for the reference restaurant can't be computed from public numbers because Owner doesn't publish its card processing rate. Before signing, ask for that rate in writing and weigh the mandatory 5% your customers pay and the chargeback terms.
What we like
- Month to month with no cancellation fee; the agreement renews monthly and you cancel before the next renewal date.
- Both plans include the website, branded app, loyalty, automated email and text marketing, setup and migration, with no setup fee shown.
- Orders go into Toast, Square, Clover or Lightspeed, and DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub orders come into Owner, at no extra fee.
- 24/7 support by phone, chat and email, and you can export your guest list as a CSV.
What to watch
- Your customers pay a mandatory 5% order support fee on every order, in both plans.
- Owner processes the payments of your online orders and doesn't publish its card processing rate.
- The agreement makes the restaurant responsible for chargebacks, while the pricing page advertises chargeback protection.
- The agreement doesn't say who owns your customers' data and limits your use of it to Owner's service.
