Our verdict
UpMenu fits a restaurant that wants direct ordering with published prices, month to month, and is happy to pay only for the add-ons it uses. Its own card processing is published, so the cost per order is easy to check; the extras for an app, loyalty and marketing add up quickly.
What we like
- Published prices for everything, including card processing for US cards (2.79% + 19¢).
- Month to month with no setup fee and a 7-day trial without a card.
- You can download your customer list to Excel, and its terms say the customer data is yours (UpMenu processes it for you).
- Orders go into Toast, Square or Clover at no extra cost.
What to watch
- The app ($49), loyalty ($19), marketing ($9) and delivery app orders ($9) are add-ons per location, so the full package costs more than the base plan.
- No refunds when you cancel; the plan runs to the end of the month.
- Chargebacks are yours: $14.90 each, taken from a funds reserve.
- Its help center lists Uber Eats as coming soon and doesn't list DoorDash among the delivery apps it brings into the dashboard.
- No support phone line, only chat and email, and its terms handle incidents Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:00 Central European Time.
