Paid by your customers

With this program your customers pay the card cost on the cards it covers, so those cost your restaurant $0 in our estimate. A surcharge only covers credit cards: your restaurant still pays the vendor's rate on debit. We show what your customers pay apart and never add it to your cost. Card network rules and state laws apply, and some states limit surcharges.

Your customers pay the card cost, except on debit cards when the program is a surcharge. With dual pricing or a cash discount, your customers pay on credit and on debit cards. With a surcharge, your customers pay on credit cards and your restaurant pays on debit cards, at the card rate. It isn't free: your customers pay it.Paid by your customersWho pays the card costDual pricingor cash discountSurchargeCredit cardsYour customersYour customersDebit cardsYour customersYour restaurant,at the card rateIt isn't free:your customers pay it

Hardware warranty

The same rows for every POS: how long the main terminal is covered against defects when you get it a standard way (buying, leasing, renting, a subscription or a loan), the conditions, including what it leaves out and what keeping it costs, and the price to replace that terminal outside the coverage.

Hardware warranty included1 yearSource: Apple (opens in a new tab)The coverage is the manufacturer's: the main screen of the POS station is an iPad, and Rezku's terms send defective hardware back to its manufacturer ("Each manufacture carries a different warranty"). Apple's limited warranty covers the iPad for one year from the original purchase. Rezku publishes no warranty or replacement terms of its own for the station covered by its $19-a-month hardware fee.
Warranty conditionsRezku gives no warranty of its own on hardware you buy: defective units go back to their manufacturer, and each manufacturer has its own warranty. Rezku accepts returns only within 30 days, in new condition, with return shipping at your cost and a 15% restocking fee, and card readers and iPads cannot be returned. No paid protection plan is published.Source: Rezku (opens in a new tab)
Price to replace the main terminalNot publishedSee my price for Rezku (opens the provider's site in a new tab)Source: Rezku (opens in a new tab)The station (stand, printer, card reader and iPad) carries a $19-a-month hardware fee per POS station. Rezku publishes no price to buy it or to replace it if it is lost or damaged. The main screen is an iPad, and Rezku doesn't accept iPad returns.

The RTC Score only counts how long defects are covered. What the coverage leaves out (accidents, theft, loss) and what it costs to keep are in the conditions. A protection plan sold separately doesn't count; if the vendor offers one, it's in the conditions. The replacement price isn't added to the 36-month cost, because there's no public data on how often equipment fails.
