Online ordering review

Slice Family

Slice's full plan for local pizzerias: its POS and hardware, website, online and phone ordering, loyalty and 24/7 support for $399 a month, plus $2 per online or phone order (none under $10), 2.9% + 30¢ card processing and a $1,000 implementation fee, month to month.

RTC SCORE

5.1

#18 of 21 with enough data

Our verdict

A fit for pizzerias that want Slice to run the POS, the phones, the website and the marketing as one package, month to month. With many online orders, the fixed fee per order weighs more than the monthly fee: compare it with flat-fee platforms.

What we like

  • No percentage commission: a fixed $2 per online or phone order, and nothing on orders under $10.
  • The POS hardware kit, website, phone ordering team, loyalty and an account manager are in the plan.
  • DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats orders come into the same POS.
  • 24/7 support by phone or text, and you can export your customer list.

What to watch

  • The fixed fee is charged on every online or phone order of $10 or more, on top of the $399 plan and card processing; with many orders it weighs more than the plan.
  • $1,000 implementation fee up front.
  • Your customers may pay Slice fees on top of the order; Slice doesn't publish the amount or say which orders carry them.
  • Works with Slice's own POS, and your shop shows inside the Slice app next to other pizzerias; there's no app with your brand.
  • Chargebacks are deducted from your payout.
