Our verdict

For restaurants on Toast, online ordering, Toast Delivery Services and the Local by Toast app come as an add-on by quote, with no per-order commission, an exportable guest list and delivery app orders in the same POS. Without a published price or online card rate we can't estimate its cost, and the module rides on the Toast agreement.

What we like

  • No per-order commission on your own online orders; you pay card processing on each order (rate not published).
  • The add-on includes Toast Delivery Services, with a flat fee per delivery that you can pass in part to your guests, and Local by Toast, Toast's ordering app for diners.
  • Guestbook keeps your online and in-store guests, and you can download the list as a CSV.
  • Online, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub orders in the same Toast POS.
  • 24/7 support by phone or web messaging.

What to watch

  • The online ordering add-on is priced by quote, so its cost can't be compared in advance.
  • Toast doesn't publish its card rate for online payments: they pay the keyed-in rate in your agreement.
  • Loyalty, email marketing and websites are other add-ons by quote.
  • Tied to the Toast agreement: the term is set in your order, it renews for a year at a time, fees aren't refunded and leaving early costs the remaining software fees.
