Our verdict

A predictable package for pizza and delivery operators willing to commit for years. Check the term in your quote and the renewal window before signing.

What we like

  • One monthly price that includes hardware, online ordering and delivery management, with $0 down.
  • Price locked for the 36 months, per its pricing page.
  • Its pricing page says the hardware leased in its $149-a-month package stays under full warranty for the length of the agreement; its terms give 12 months unless your signed quote says more, and exclude damage you or others cause.

What to watch

  • Leaving early costs the subscription for the full term plus 90% of the processor fees left.
  • Renews for 3-year periods, and the signer is a personal guarantor.
  • The card rate is not published.

Cost to get started

The cash your restaurant puts in before it opens on the new POS, in our reference scenario ($30k/month in card sales, $35 average ticket, 2 terminals, 1 location, 36 months): equipment you buy up front plus one-time setup or installation fees. Same rows for every POS.

25% of the RTC Score

Terminals, upfront: Hardware in the all-in package (×2)$0
Total to get started$0

$0 up front: the equipment is loaned, rented or included with no upfront payment.

Left out and why

  • The vendor doesn't publish the price of a terminal on its own, so each additional terminal is priced like the starter kit (this may overstate hardware).
  • Monthly and yearly charges (rent, software, yearly fees per device) are part of the 36-month cost, not of the entry cost.

Switching or signing bonus

What the vendor's current promotions are worth to our reference restaurant ($30k/month in card sales, $35 average ticket, 2 terminals, 1 location, 36 months), an established restaurant switching from another company's POS.

    Conditions
90 days of HungerRush POS and OrderAI at no charge for restaurants that switch. HungerRush publishes no terms or eligibility rules for it; its offer page says it expires October 31 and, on the same page, to switch by August 31, and doesn't say whether the hardware lease, processing or the 36-month agreement are affected; details come in a demo. Its Terms and Conditions say that any payment, credit, discount or other benefit given to get you to sign must be paid back in full if you don't complete the whole term or you breach the agreement. It is a period with no charge for the POS and OrderAI, not cash and not a payment of your current provider's early termination fee.

Counts in the RTC Score only if our reference restaurant qualifies.

The switching or signing incentive is one of the criteria with the most weight in the RTC Score. We count a promotion only while it's current, with a fixed published amount and conditions our reference restaurant meets. "Up to" amounts, buyouts of your current contract and unpublished amounts don't count. The cost calculator subtracts one only when your numbers qualify.

Hardware warranty

The same rows for every POS: how long the main terminal is covered against defects when you get it a standard way (buying, leasing, renting, a subscription or a loan), the conditions, including what it leaves out and what keeping it costs, and the price to replace that terminal outside the coverage.

Hardware warranty includedLifetime, while your agreement is activeSource: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)The pricing page says the leased hardware in the $149 package stays under full warranty for the length of the agreement, which is 36 months and, under its Terms, includes any renewal terms. That is the same rule we apply to every vendor whose coverage lasts while you keep the agreement that carries it. The Terms and Conditions give 12 months of repair or replacement and say the agreement is your signed quote plus the Terms, not marketing materials, so ask for the term-long coverage in your quote.
Warranty conditionsThe Terms and Conditions cover defects in material or workmanship with repair or replacement for the first 12 months after installation, and only if you owe HungerRush nothing and are not in breach. Damage caused by an act of God or by you, your agents or anyone else is not covered, so accidental damage is excluded, and HungerRush decides how to repair or replace. The terms say nothing about advance replacement or who pays shipping. All hardware belongs to HungerRush and is provided as a subscription. The pricing page promises full warranty for the 36-month term on the package's leased hardware; the agreement is your signed quote plus the Terms. No separate paid protection plan is published.Source: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)
Price to replace the main terminalNot publishedSee my price for HungerRush (opens the provider's site in a new tab)Source: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)The POS terminal is leased inside the package. HungerRush publishes no price to replace it or to pay for one that is damaged or not returned.

The RTC Score only counts how long defects are covered. What the coverage leaves out (accidents, theft, loss) and what it costs to keep are in the conditions. A protection plan sold separately doesn't count; if the vendor offers one, it's in the conditions. The replacement price isn't added to the 36-month cost, because there's no public data on how often equipment fails.

Trial or money-back period

Whether you can try the POS and leave, and what it costs you if you do. Same rows for every POS.

Trial or money-back periodNone publishedSource: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)We checked HungerRush's pricing page, terms and home page: no trial or cancel-without-penalty window is published. The current switch offer (the first 90 days of the POS and OrderAI at no charge) is a promotion inside the 36-month agreement, and it is listed under promotions.
Trial periodN/ASource: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)HungerRush publishes no trial.
Charges during the trialN/ASource: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)HungerRush publishes no trial.
Trial conditionsNo trial is published. Payments start on the delivery and installation date, and you pay the delivery and installation costs. Hardware you don't need can be returned within 30 days of delivery or installation, at your cost, with a 20% usage and return fee if it was used.Source: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)

In the RTC Score the trial is part of the contract block, the lowest weight in the model: full points when you can try it with no software charges or get your money back, half when you can cancel without the early termination fee but the charges during the trial are yours.

Dual pricing or surcharge programYesSource: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)HungerRush documents surcharges you can tie to a payment type, with a credit card fee as its example, after you sign its Surcharge Liability form. It publishes no percentage, cap or state rules. With it, card processing costs your restaurant $0 in our estimate and your customers pay the surcharge. Card network rules and state laws apply, and some states limit or ban surcharges.
Cards the program coversCredit cards only (surcharge)()Source: HungerRush (opens in a new tab)HungerRush documents a surcharge you set by payment type, not dual pricing or a cash discount. Card network rules don't allow surcharging debit cards, so debit sales stay at your card rate. HungerRush doesn't say what the restaurant still pays. An archived copy of the same article says the surcharge is set per payment type and is "most often used to offset credit card fees".
Other fees in the contractYou pay the delivery and installation costs, including the travel of HungerRush staff. Hardware you return within 30 days carries a usage and return fee of 20% of its list price if it was used.
